It’s been five long months since my last post and I couldn’t be happier to finally be back! Life has been busy, I’m sure its been the same for all of you. I was starting to feel confused about the direction my blog was headed and I needed to take a step back to focus on the message I wanted to send.

I enjoy writing posts that tell a story relevant to my family and my daily life. I LOVE writing about my beautiful baby girl and the many joys and challenges that come along with being a working mom and wife.

I learned so much from my blogging hiatus. There was no clear definition of purpose for this blog and I needed to do something about it! I decided to re-launch with better posts, better ideas, and most importantly….consistency! Now, I can’t promise there won’t be quiet moments, but I CAN promise that I won’t disappear for months on end again.

I’m looking forward to this journey of family, friends, and finding time for fabulous! Keep an eye out for website changes, fun updates and product reviews. So…I’M BAACK!

Isabella’s 2 Month Photos!

Before Isabella was born, I was already thinking about newborn photos. Of corse I turned to good ol’ Pinterest for some inspiration. With my due date having been Christmas Day, most of the local newborn photographers were booked solid straight through January. After Isabella was born the days following seemed to move at lightening speed. The holidays were in full swing and I still needed to recover from the episiotomy. Before I knew it, the month of January was coming to an end and February was fast approaching.
Thankfully the hospital photographer did come by and took a few shots of Isabella the day she was born, which hubs ordered. Since we were lucky enough to have those beautiful photos, I figured we can take more photos of her during one of her milestones.
My friend Amanda, the same photographer that did my maternity photos seen here, offered to take some shots of Isabella. I thought that was so sweet of her! I’m SO elated with how the photos turned out! I’m glad we were able to do them on such short notice. I can’t wait to have them framed and create a gallery wall in our living area.

Here are the shots from our shoot:

I hope you liked Isabella’s photos. Amanda was ah-mazing…check out her website to view more of her work!

Two Month Faves

It’s hard to believe how quickly time is passing by. The other day I was going through my iPhone camera roll just marveling at how tiny Isabella was when she was born and today I look over to see my beautiful, growing girl. Below is a list of items I’ve been loving for Isabella lately…

Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Cradle Swing

Now that Isabella is a little bigger and has better head control, we’ve been using her swing and she loves it! Whether she’s awake or sleeping (sometimes it rocks her to sleep). We’re only use it on the lowest speed so far. I love that I can put her in there and get things done around the house while she naps.

Dr. Brown’s Newborn Bottle Set

Isabella is having major gas issues, poor baby was severely constipated with terrible tummy aches. My mom suggested that I try these bottles. She picked up a set for me and so far they seem to really help. The bottles are designed to avoid nipple collapse so that the milk flows more like it would from the breast by eliminating air bubbles in milk and formula.

Carter’s Butterfly and Polka Dots Animal Travel Buddy Neck Roll

Isabella usually falls asleep in her car seat once the car starts moving. I wanted to get her a neck pillow to stop her head from bobbing. She definitely likes her neck roll, it’s soft and plush and seem more comfortable in her car seat.

Palmolive Ultra Baby Concentrate Dish Wash

I was looking for a soap for washing Isabella’s bottles. I wanted something that cleans milk residue and fragrance free. I’ve always liked the Palmolive brand, so I was happy to know they make a dish soap specific for my needs. This soap is awesome, rinses clean and feels gentle/doesn’t have a heavy scent.

All Baby Laundry Detergent Walmart

This brand laundry detergent came highly recommended by a mom in my breastfeeding class. I’ve always preferred using Purex to wash the family’s laundry so I was a little hesitant trying something different. The All brand baby detergent really does work. It cleans clothes very well, it’s not heavily fragranced making it perfect for Isabella. I usually wash 2 small loads a week using about 2 soda caps full of detergent because her clothes dont get as dirty.

The First Years Infant to Toddler Tub with Sling

Originally I wasn’t going to buy a tub, thing I could just bathe her in the sink. Once I saw my mom bathing my nephew in his tub I totally changed my mind anymore, glad I did because Isabella loves her tub! She feels secure sitting in the mesh sling, which is also machine washable. Pampers Sensitive Wipes

Finding a brand of diapers and wipes were things I started thinking about during my third trimester. There are so many brands to choose from with many different features, it’s overwhelming. Thankfully I received a case of these wipes for a baby shower gift and started using them once I brought Isa home. They’re hypoallergenic and perfume free making them gentle enough for my little one’s delicate skin.

MAM Start Size Newborn to 2 Months Pacifier

Specifically designed for newborns, this small, lightweight pacifier fits comfortably in her mouth. They come in a pack of 2 in a microwave safe reusable storage case for sterilizing pacifiers.

31 Weeks…9 More To Go!

Happy Halloween Eve Ya’ll!!! Hope everyone has enjoyed their week so far.

Our week started off with hubby’s little brother, Esmond, flying in for a visit from Puerto Rico. The last time they saw each other was about 10 years ago, so this visit was well overdue. Since this was his first time leaving the island and coming to the states, hubs took a few days off from work for the two of them to spend some quality time together (pics to come).

As for the progress on the nursery goes, we’ve finally chosen a paint color (phew!). We decided to go with Behr Premium Plus zero VOC satin interior paint in soft lace. Though I love the color pink, I wanted to go for a more subtle or muted tone and nothing overpowering or obnoxious. We’re now in a mad dash to get the nursery painted before the floors are started, which I think we’ll get started on Sunday.

Now for my preggy update….

How far along? 31 weeks (I do these a week behind, so I’m actually 32 weeks today with just 8 more to go!)

Symptoms: Still experiencing severe heartburn most nights along with lower back pain and occasional shortness of breath…typical third trimester symptoms.

Sleep: Getting a full night’s sleep (or good sleep for that matter) proved to be one heck of a challenge this week. With baby Isa’s constant movements, it’s nearly impossible to find a some-what comfortable sleeping position. This little girl kicks regardless if I sleep on my back or either side 😦

Total weight gain/loss: I’ve gained a total of 18-19lbs to date.

Maternity clothes: I recently ordered a few new maternity pieces. Can’t wait for them to arrive! I was also able to finally get a dress for my baby shower on Saturday…woo hoo!

What I miss? SEEING MY FEET! Fitting into some of my favorite clothing items (in due time), deep tissue messages and sleeping on my stomach.

Movement: I’m still feeling her kicks and pokes at all times during the day. I’d say she’s inactive maybe 15-30 minutes at a time maybe 3-4 times a day.

Food cravings: Still craving milkshakes and ice cream most days.

What’s making me sick: Still staying away from foods high in acidity like apple, orange and pineapple juices, lemonade, tomato sauce or spicy foods.

Looking forward to: My baby shower on Saturday, seeing my cousin Maxine and the rest of my closest family and friends. Also, having our floors refinished next week

Best moment this week: Meeting my hubby’s little brother for the first time!

Worst moment of the week: Not being able to make it to my best friend’s wedding in Mexico this weekend and having a minor bout with food poisoning Tuesday …worst tummy cramps EVER!

Thanks again for following along with me on my journey to mommy-hood. Baby Isabella will be here in no time and I truly can’t wait! Within you all a safe and Happy Halloween!

Celebrating Our Second Wedding Anniversary

Today is our second wedding anniversary! We spent Sunday (yesterday) at home, starting our day off with brunch (hubs slept in while I cooked). The menu consisted of all his favorite things:
Buttermilk Pancakes
Scrambled Eggs with Cheese
Turkey Sausage
Heart Shaped Cinnamon Rolls

It rained most of the day, which made it perfect for us to spend the rest of the afternoon in bed watching football. Later that evening, hubs arranged a romantic dinner for us at Ruth Chris Steakhouse in Winter Park.

IMG_3479.JPGa sweet treat we received after dinner

After we made it home from dinner, hubs presented me with the sweetest selection of gifts: all of my favorite things (great minds clearly think alike)! I’m a huge fan of anything Paul Frank and hubs got me the most adorable onesie pajamas that I’ve wanted for the longest, a bag of these delicious white chocolate covered red velvet bites and 2 front and center tickets to see Cirque Du Soliel’s La Nouba.

Lots of love to my wonderful husband and I’m a lucky woman to have him! He is my rock and I can’t imagine my life without him in it.

Our Weekend in Tampa

I love weekends (that I don’t work). I get to spend good ol’ quality time with hubs and the kids, which I absolutely cherish because of my busy work schedule.

Our weekend started on Friday, both hubs and I took the day off to drive over to Tampa. There we checked into our room at the Marriott Waterside Hotel and Marina and met up with my parents, brother and his family.

After checking in and settling into our rooms, we ate lunch on property at Champions Grill. I had craved a burger and fries over the last few days, which I finally gave in and ordered just that. Soooo worth it because my meal was delicious!

Hubs spent the rest of the afternoon poolside with the kids, my mom and I enjoyed mani/pedis at the spa. After a quick bite for dinner we took a stroll across the marina. On the opposite end was this cute café serving gelato. Of course I couldn’t pass up desert. We made our way back to the hotel for a drink on the patio before calling it a night.

Saturday morning, I woke up to this view off of our balcony.

Hub’s cousin Rey met us at the hotel that morning. We all ate breakfast together at Cafe Waterside before heading to the Florida Aquarium for some family fun. The kids had a blast seeing different species of sea life, birds and reptiles. With it being the first day of shark week, they got a chance to catch glimpses of a few swimming by.

The moment that completely made my day was seeing my 15 month old nephew Landon, wave and blow kisses to the divers in the tank. His little eyes lit up when one of them came to the glass and waved back.

 Hope you enjoyed your weekend!
